If you are upgrading from a previous version of IBM Notes or installing IBM Notes on a computer that previously had IBM Notes installed please use the NICE.exe utility to completely remove any user and program data.

2. Run the NOTES_9.0.1_Client.exe with an administrator account.
3. Leave the default radio button selected on the Remove Installation Files wizard prompt. Click Next through the prompts until you arrive at the Installation Path Selection.

5. Under “Install this application for:” SELECT “Only for me (Single User Install)

7. Do not make Notes the default application for your email, calendar, or contacts. Click Install.

  3. Follow the prompts choosing “Next”, “install” and “Finish” where appropriate.

Configuring the Notes Client

1. Click Next on the Welcome panel of the Client Configuration Wizard.
2. Enter your first and last name in the Your Name field
3. In the Domino Server field enter: d5-ddas2.ad.psu.edu
4. Leave the “I want to connect to a Domino server” checked.
5. Enter your IBM Notes password. If this is the first time you are logging into Notes you should have an email from a Development staff member with your default password.
6. Leave all checkboxes unchecked on the Additional Services panel of the Configuration wizard. Click Finish.
7. When prompted to set Lotus Notes as your default email program, click on the checkbox In the future, do not perform this check and select No.
8. The notes client will launch and display the Getting Started page.

Setting up the Server Connections

1) Close any tabs that are open.

2) Select the Open Menu Button on the top Left of the Client and select the Contacts to open the local user’s notes address book.

3) Close the “about contacts” tab

4) On the “User – Contacts” tab click on the “Advanced” menu item under the “Other Contacts” on the left-hand navigation menu of the user’s contacts.

5) Select the “Connections” Menu in the user’s address book to setup the connections to the DDAR Notes Server.

6) Click New and select Server Connection

  1. Basics tab
     1. Connection Type : Local Area Network
     2. Use LAN Port : TCPIP checked
     3. Server name: ddas2/notes
• Advanced Tab
  1. Only from Locations: *
  2. Only for user: *
  3. Usage Priority: Normal
  4. Destination server address: d5-ddas2.ad.psu.edu
  5. Select the “save & close” button to save the settings for the ddas2 server connection

Setting the DDAR Welcome Page as the home page

1. Select the Open Menu Button.
2. Click on the Open Menu, right click on the “PSU Dev and Alumni Notes Home Page” bookmark and select, “Set Bookmark as Home Page.”

Note: It can take a few minutes for the home page to be pushed to the IBM Notes client. If you don’t see the bookmark immediately try closing and reopening the client or bookmark the welcome page manually by following these steps:

1. Go to file, open, Lotus Notes Application.
2. In the “Look in” drop-down menu, type the server: d5-ddas2.ad.psu.edu. Scroll down, and select “XP_Welcome” (XP_Welcome.nsf). Click open.
3. Close the “About” tab. Then click on the tab titled “PSU Dev and Alumni Notes Home Page.” This is the homepage that will be frequently used.
4. Right click on the “PSU Dev and Alumni Notes Home Page” tab and choose “Create Bookmark.”
5. Click on the Open Menu, right click on the “PSU Dev and Alumni Notes Home Page” bookmark and select, “Set Bookmark as Home Page.”
